The Agricultural Economist invites contributions for our April edition, focusing on "Farming for People and Planet: Celebrating Labor, Life, and Biodiversity".

This month’s theme aligns with key global observances, such as Labor Day, World Red Cross Day, Nurses Day, Day of Families, World Bee Day, Cultural Diversity Day, and Biodiversity Day, emphasizing the urgent need for sustainable agricultural practices, climate adaptation, rural health, and the empowerment of smallholder farmers.

We welcome submissions that explore:

  • Labor Day (May 1): Honoring the contributions and rights of agricultural workers worldwide.

  • World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (May 8): Highlighting the role of humanitarian networks in rural disaster response and health outreach.

  • International Nurses Day (May 12): Recognizing frontline health workers who serve farm communities, from migrant harvesters to remote clinics.

  • International Day of Families (May 15): Examining family-run farms, intergenerational knowledge transfer, and social protection.

  • World Bee Day (May 20): Celebrating pollinators essential for crop productivity and biodiversity.

  • World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (May 21): Exploring how traditional farming systems and food cultures enrich resilience.

  • International Day for Biological Diversity (May 22): Focusing on agro-biodiversity, seed sovereignty, and conservation strategies

We welcome research/review-based articles, policy briefs, case studies, and expert opinions relevant to these topics. Submissions should be insightful, data-driven, and offer practical recommendations for policymakers, researchers, and rural communities.
