In celebration of October's globally significant days related to agriculture, food security, rural development, and the economy, The Agricultural Economist invites submissions for our special edition, focusing on the interconnectedness of these themes. We aim to explore how agriculture can drive economic growth, uplift rural communities, and provide solutions to global challenges such as hunger, poverty, climate change, and rural-urban migration.
The broader theme is "Sustaining Growth and Security: Agriculture, Rural Development, and the Economy in the Face of Global Challenges"
Key Themes and Focus Areas:
World Food Day (October 16)
Focus: "Achieving Zero Hunger: Sustainable Food Systems and Agricultural Innovation"
We welcome articles that address food security, innovative farming techniques, sustainable food systems, and how agriculture can feed the world’s growing population. Suggested topics include:Technology and innovation in agriculture to increase food production.
The role of smallholder farmers in food security.
Case studies on improving food systems in developing economies.
Policy recommendations for supporting sustainable agriculture.
International Day for Rural Women (October 15)
Focus: "Empowering Rural Women: Bridging Gaps in Agriculture and the Rural Economy"
Articles highlighting the contributions of rural women to agriculture, rural development, and food security are encouraged. Topics may include:Women’s roles in agricultural production and rural enterprises.
Challenges faced by rural women in accessing land, finance, and technology.

International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17)
Focus: "Farming as a Pathway out of Poverty: The Role of Agriculture in Poverty Alleviation"

World Development Information Day (October 24)

Submission Guidelines:
Article length: 1,500 to 2,000 words.
Format: Word document, 12 pt font, Times New Roman.
Deadline for submissions: Submissions will be entertained till 20.10.2024.
